Jackson is sleeping!!

I'm so excited to announce (finally) that Jackson is sleeping through the night... most nights. He goes to bed between 7 and 8 at night and sleeps till about 6 am. It's AMAZING!! He does all kinds of tricks now, but I have to admit this is the milestone I have been waiting for!! Mommy NEEDS sleep, so I'm so excited about this new trick.

It's been so hard because EVERY parent I know (and I know a lot of them) has told me how their baby starting to sleep through the night at 4 weeks old or 6 weeks old, or even 2 weeks old- every single parent, every one! But my son waited 5 1/2 months- AUGH!! I do not believe in comparing children (although I was worried about the first time Jackson smiled, but that was because I wanted so desperately to see that first smile) and I don't worry about what Jackson is not doing because every baby is different, but my goodness I've been wanting sleep! Jim and I both slept through the night fairly early as well, so we've been waiting and waiting for a good nights sleep.

I do have to say that Jim is AMAZING because he's been getting up with Jackson every other night to give me a break. I think every mom must know her Achilles heal and mine is a lack of sleep. I explained that to Jim and he started to get up with Jackson too. He's been doing it since Jackson was about 4 weeks old and I am so grateful for his help because I could not have done it by myself. A lot men feel like if they work outside the home and mom's stay home then the middle of the night feedings are up to mom only, but Jim does not think this way. Men might work 8 or even 10 hours away, but mommy's NEVER get a break or get a vacation. Stay at home moms never get to "go home" after a hard day, it's a continuous job that never ends- it's the BEST job in the world, but very difficult still. I am blessed with a wonderful husband that understands this and helps out so much!

I'll get off my soap box now- you get the point. Anyway, I'm just so excited that Jackson is sleeping through the night now! He's such a big boy!

  1. Hi Raylene- I hope you don't mind, I found your blog on Amber's! What a cute family you have.
I just wanted to say AMEN sista, sleep is my achilles. Delaney will be ONE in two weeks and is STILL not sleeping consistently through the night, so Congrats to your little man and giving momma what she needs.
