I'm so excited to announce (finally) that Jackson is sleeping through the night... most nights. He goes to bed between 7 and 8 at night and sleeps till about 6 am. It's AMAZING!! He does all kinds of tricks now, but I have to admit this is the milestone I have been waiting for!! Mommy NEEDS sleep, so I'm so excited about this new trick.
It's been so hard because EVERY parent I know (and I know a lot of them) has told me how their baby starting to sleep through the night at 4 weeks old or 6 weeks old, or even 2 weeks old- every single parent, every one! But my son waited 5 1/2 months- AUGH!! I do not believe in comparing children (although I was worried about the first time Jackson smiled, but that was because I wanted so desperately to see that first smile) and I don't worry about what Jackson is not doing because every baby is different, but my goodness I've been wanting sleep! Jim and I both slept through the night fairly early as well, so we've been waiting and waiting for a good nights sleep.
I do have to say that Jim is AMAZING because he's been getting up with Jackson every other night to give me a break. I think every mom must know her Achilles heal and mine is a lack of sleep. I explained that to Jim and he started to get up with Jackson too. He's been doing it since Jackson was about 4 weeks old and I am so grateful for his help because I could not have done it by myself. A lot men feel like if they work outside the home and mom's stay home then the middle of the night feedings are up to mom only, but Jim does not think this way. Men might work 8 or even 10 hours away, but mommy's NEVER get a break or get a vacation. Stay at home moms never get to "go home" after a hard day, it's a continuous job that never ends- it's the BEST job in the world, but very difficult still. I am blessed with a wonderful husband that understands this and helps out so much!
I'll get off my soap box now- you get the point. Anyway, I'm just so excited that Jackson is sleeping through the night now! He's such a big boy!

Jackson is 5 months old

Jackson is growing so fast! He's already 5 months old. He's so cute and he loves to laugh. He has special smiles for daddy- he is definately a daddy's boy for sure. If daddy just peaks his head into the room Jackson's in Jackson goes nuts! He reached out for daddy to hold him for the first time the other day. If he's going to reach out for someone for the first time, I'm not shocked that it was daddy. Jackson LOVES to talk, he'll gurgle and coo with anyone. And he loves the ladies!! If a man and a woman are talking to him at the same time, he just looks at the lady- it's like the man doesn't even exist. New people are his favorite, he is definately not shy, but neither are his mommy or daddy. We're so proud of our little boy!!
Christmas and New Years 2009
Christmas was crazy wonderful this year because it was Jackson's first Christmas and New Year. Jackson went on his first train ride (and I think it was daddy's first train ride too) to go see santa!! Unfortunately Jackson fell asleep before we ever got to Santa, but mommy told santa that Jackson just wanted teeth for Christmas. Santa has no authority over teeth though, so he still doesn't have any.

Christmas was so much fun! We celebrated Christmas eve with a big dinner and presents at grandma Marlow's house. Christmas morning we woke up and opened presents and ate breakfast. We spent most of the day putting together Jackson's toys... and Jim's too. Later that day we went to Grandma Marlow's because santa came to see Jackson there too. He was definately spoiled this year, but he won't remember how spoiled he was so it's the perfect time to spoil him.

New years was not as fun this year because Jackson got his 4 month old shots on the 30th and he was really sick on the 31st. We had some friends come into town, but we spent New Years Eve at home with Jackson since he was feeling so bad. It was hard on me because he was so sick, but we had fun at home. We're really excited about the new year and watching Jackson grow!

Blogging is so new to me!
I don't understand how to do this whole blogging thing, but I'm learning. Our blog will become better and better the more I learn.
We are the Nuffers; Jim, Raylene, and Jackson. Jim and I have been married for over a year and Jackson is our 4 month old son. He's growing so fast! He's very long- he wears nine month clothes, but his dad is really tall so it makes sense. Jackson can turn over from his tummy to his back but it's new to him and it makes him cry. He tries to turn from his back to his tummy but his hands get in the way. He's very active, he loves to stand and we're working on getting him to use his jumper, but he doesn't quite have the coordination yet... soon.
We have a small family, but we're hoping to expand it in the next year or so with a new sibling for Jackson. We're living in Lubbock while I'm in grad school and will be moving to Oregon as soon as I'm done to be closer to our families.
We just had Christmas and New Years so I'll add pictures and blogs later about the holidays.
